Maybe at some point in your life, you have heard about Cancun. For many, it is a crucial tourist spot in Mexico. Whether for its beaches, theme parks, or the endless nightlife of the hotel zone.

It is a perfect place for a vacation with all kinds of adventures and thrills. If you haven't had the chance to visit this place yet, I will tell you some essential things about Cancun if you decide to spend your vacations in this paradisiacal place.

First of all, you should know that it is located in Mexico, to be more precise, in the Yucatan Peninsula. Its climate is temperate, and the temperature stays between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep in mind that from June to October, the temperature drops, and it is a season where there are intense storms and hurricanes. So if you are looking for a sunny climate, the ideal months to travel are from November to May.

I think this is a must if you visit Cancun. And thinking about it, I don't think anyone who decides to spend their vacations in Cancun would not want to see its beaches to take a swim in its turquoise waters or sunbathe and relax. The most important and main ones are "Playa Delfines", "Playa Tortuga", "Playa Caracol" and "Playa Langosta". All of them are in the hotel zone. Remember this, in Mexico, the beaches are public, and you do not have to pay to access them.

Theme Parks

A highly recommended place to visit in the Riviera Maya is "Xcaret," an ecological theme park located at km 282 of the Chetumal-Puerto Juarez highway and 74 Km from Cancun International Airport in the direction of Tulum.

I assure you that you will not regret visiting this place; you will be able to see marine species, exotic birds, and even panthers up close. You can also snorkel, swim with dolphins or take a swim in its subway river. In its main pavilion, you can witness its attractive final show, don't miss it!

Another prominent place in the Riviera Maya is Xel-Ha, an ecological park where more than 70 marine species live. This natural aquarium is considered the largest in the world.

Cancun's nightlife is endless, especially in the hotel zone. Here you can find restaurants, clubs, bars, and discos with various renowned concepts such as "Coco Bongo," "The City Cancun," "Mandala," "Dady'O," and "Bulldog."

This is one reason why many people from Mexico and abroad travel to Cancun to enjoy this area's lively nightlife.

Most of these places have a cover charge of approximately USD 50 and include free drinks all night long.

Archeological Sites

You have to know that Cancun is not all about beaches and parties. You can also find history in its Archaeological Zones by exploring the Mayan culture at the Pyramids of Chichen Itza, a 3-hour drive away, or by visiting the Mayan ruins of Tulum, very close to the seashore. Approximately an hour and a half from Cancun.
  • Transportation from Cancun Airport
  • It is essential to know that the airport is 16 km from Cancun. This is not a problem since being at the airport you will find many transportation options.
  • The first option you will come across is the ADO bus company. If you like to travel comfortably and are not in a hurry to get to your hotel, this is an excellent option.
  • The cost of the ticket is USD 4.5, and departures are every 10 to 20 minutes.
  • The second option is the local cab service. I never considered it since the approximate cost is USD 40. Something very high considering the other options.
The third option is Cancun aiport transportation. It is perfect if you are traveling with friends or family. Many companies that offer this service will pick you up at the Cancun Airport and take you to the hotel where you will be staying. There is also Cancun to Tulum shuttle at a good price. The best thing is that the price is per vehicle and not per person. I recommend you to check on the internet before you make your trip; maybe you will find good promotions.

And the last option is to rent a car in Cancun. The good thing about this option is that you will have the freedom to move wherever you want if you are adventurous. Something essential is that the cost of gasoline is on your own. As the last option, I recommend looking on the internet; maybe you will find a good deal that fits your budget.

Now that you have some ideas of the good and the bad that you will find in your Riviera Maya vacations, I hope you enjoy and have fun in this paradisiacal place in Mexico.
