DBE confirmed 3500 pit toilets still at South African schools

The Department of Basic Education (DBE) confirmed last week in the Portfolio Committee on Basic Education that there are currently 3 532 pit toilets at schools across the country.

After 24 years of democracy, it is appalling that children are still subjected to pit toilets which put their lives at risk.

The DBE estimated that it will cost about R7.8 billion to address the sanitation backlog all schools. Shockingly, the budget for school infrastructure has been cut by R3.6 billion – when this amount could have met nearly half this need.

Pit toilets are not only hazardous to the health of learners, but they can also be deadly. The deaths of Michael Komape and Lumka Mketwa could have been avoided if they had access to decent sanitation.

The DA welcomes the instruction by the High Court in Limpopo today that the province’s education department present a plan on supplying safe toilets in rural schools in Limpopo by 30 July 2018.

#DateMyFamily Women rich married men also form of pr0stitutes

Date My Family helps singletons find love by sending them on dates with their potential partner’s family. Can you really trust your family to help you find love?

Women who fall in love with rich married men or only date men who drive nice cars must never criticize prostitutes because they’re in the same profession the only difference is they work in the private sector while prostitutes work in the public sector.

Millions stranded Bus strike continues Nationwide

Millions of commuters are set to be stranded on Monday as the nationwide bus strike continues.

Negotiations between Golden Arrow coaches and Satawu members broke down on Friday afternoon.

Satawu Spokesperson Zanele Sabela said, “The unions currently are standing at a 9 percent increase. We were not willing to sign a multi-year agreement, this is what we are willing to accept right now… Friday the spirit was not good at all. We are still waiting to see what will happen.”

The MyCiTi bus service in Cape Town also remains suspended until further notice and commuters should expect heavy traffic on the roads, the city warned on Sunday.

“The nationwide strike action affecting the South African bus industry is continuing,” mayoral committee member for transport and urban development Brett Herron said.

It was unclear when the strike action, which was the result of deadlocked wage negotiations, would come to an end. Those making use of road-based transport should expect heavy traffic and longer trav…

Mzansi spent over R100-million on #BlackPanther

I love Black Panther. Not just the film, but what it has come to represent to us and to be – a young black woman. That’s why all the people who are pissed that we’ve shipped over R100-million to the US for Wakanda need to chill.

I’ll explain why. I watched it once, suitably at a cinema, and I don’t regret it one bit!

Because what kind of black person would I be if I didn’t watch a film that ticked all the right boxes and also happened to be pro-black and instils so much pride in us?

I should also point out that the fact that I went to the cinema is a big deal because I had a chance to watch it for R10. The DVD was only R10 in the Joburg CBD, just hours after it was released.

Anyway, I also know people who have gone to the cinema a couple of times to watch it. Side note: This is excluding the serial cheaters, who only watched it a couple of times because all the girlfriends/boyfriends wanted a #BlackPanther date. Lol!

The Marvel film, which was a massive investment in telling a story of a b…

Age 30 Bonang Matheba to host Tata Madiba’s dinner in London

Bonang Matheba will be representing Mzansi this week when she jets off to London to host a centenary celebration dinner for Tata Madiba.
When we caught up with the star this week she told us she couldn’t fit us in her bags so she won’t be able to take us with to The Global Gift Nelson Mandela Centenary Dinner on Tuesday, but she would do us proud by preaching the legacy of both Nelson and Ma Winnie Mandela.
“I was a special guest of the foundation’s gala dinner in London last year where Eva Longoria was chair. I guess I made an impact because I was approached this year to host their event.”
“Lol! I am not sure what they have prepared for us but it would be cool if they had traditional South African dishes. Either way, I’m sure people will enjoy it.”

“Well, I am going alone because some of my family members weren’t able to get the right documentation in time but Vanessa Williams, Pamela Anderson and Beverley Knight will be there so there’s that…”
“I’ll tell them about the impact they have h…

“[Conco] has not been transparent with us and this is one of the things we are pushing in the campaign‚ for transparency and accountability towards young people,” said Morulane.

The board is concerned about her affiliation to Zuma.

“This raises a lot of alarms for us … Looking at all the controversial things around the Zuma fa…

Court rules that banks can sell your house for next to nothing (Standard Bank once sold R470k for R40k)

When a person obtains a home loan from the bank, a mortgage bond is usually registered over their home as security by the bank. The bank will use this to recover any debt should the debtor default on their home loan repayments, in which event the debtor may lose their home.

This has raised the question of whether the bank should be allowed to sell the debtor’s home for an amount that is at least equivalent to the outstanding debt or to sell the property at any price.

This was the subject of a Pretoria High Court judgment (PDF, 12MB) handed down on 22 March 2018. The Court dismissed a challenge against the constitutionality of specific rules of court which enable the home of a debtor to be sold without a reserve price.
BackgroundGiven Nkwane obtained a home loan from Standard Bank in September 2011 for an amount of R380,000 and had a mortgage bond registered in favour of the bank. Nkwane defaulted on his home loan in February 2012. For the rest of that year, he continued to default and on…

According to City Press, the star was arrested in 2008 at her Cleveland home in Johannesburg for possession of Mandrax worth R5-million. She told Move magazine this week that the time she spent in prison was a “dark time”.

Linda Sebezo’s portrayal of a prison inmate on Lockdown has us peeing our pants on the regular and may have come in part from her own experience behind bars.

“Heh. It was a dark time. I was in Sun City Maximum Prison (Johannesburg Correctional Centre) for three months,” she said.
