A step by step guideline to extract contents from System.IMG file

This is the complete tutorial to extract the contents from the System Image files using the extractor tool. However, to start the extracting process, you must need the System.img file, and this file is located in the firmware. So, first, download the correct firmware for your device along with the extractor tool, and follow the steps below.
  • Step 1: Download and extract the MTK extractor tool. You do not need to unzip it if you downloaded the main setup file. After extracting the tool, you will see the MTK Extractor EXE file.
  • Step 2: Now, double click on the EXE file to launch the tool.
  • Step 3: When the tool is started, you will see three options: System.new.dat, System.img, and Folder system.
  • Step 4: Now, to extract the contents from the system image, click on the “Browse” button from the right side of the System.img option.
  • Step 5: Now, locate the System.img file from the firmware. If you have downloaded the firmware as zip format, unzip it and then find the IMG file under the ROM.
  • Step 6: After locating the IMG file, click on the “Open” button to add the file.
  • Step 7: When you have added the file, click on the “Start” button to begin the extraction process.
  • Step 8: Depending on the image size, the extracting process will take several minutes. However, when the tool completes the extraction, you will see a green tick on the screen.
