Experience the thrills of night snorkeling in Cancun

 snorkeling in Cancun

Snorkeling at night can be very exciting. This snorkeling activity is really my favourite type of snorkeling. The only other activity that I think you can overcome is night diving because you have more opportunities to dive deeper, otherwise, you still get the same adrenaline when diving at night.

Why would someone try to snorkel at night?

It may seem strange and scary. Anyone who has tried will say that there is another world to discover.

Night Snorkeling Mystery gives you a new look at your favourite snorkeling spot, which may have lost its charm during the day. At first, you will feel a little scared ... while snorkeling in Cancun everyone does it, it is natural, but once you get used to it, you will automatically replace your fear with excitement, curiosity, and thirst for adventure.

At dusk, you find aquatic creatures, which you rarely see during the day and look different from during the day. At night, foxes grow with different wildlife.

Night animals such as lobster and shrimp are nocturnal creatures and coral polyps open at night to give the reef a blurry and colorful appearance.

You will also find microscopic plankton with luminescence, which provides flashes of light during interference. If you experience such a meeting, turn off the flashlight and shake your hands in the water. This will give you an unforgettable experience when you see "sparks" igniting around you. It is an amazing feeling.

Before entering the water, what equipment do I need?

Safe snorkeling is necessary, especially if you are diving at night. Therefore, make sure you prepare well before diving at night. The difference with snorkeling during the day is that snorkeling at night requires additional equipment and more planning and preparation.

The most important unit is an underwater flashlight. The flashlight not only highlights the colours and shows you the way with the night snorkel, but also makes your position known to your snorkeling partner.

If you dive at night, I recommend using chemical lamps in addition to a flashlight. You can think of them as light bars that use a chemical reaction. These types of lamps act as guidance lights to mark your own place and that of your friend. It is advisable to place these lamps on the flagpole of your buoy. I also find that these lamps are useful for finding my starting point. A snorkeling trip is to place them strategically at the entry points so you know where to leave the water. For example, if you got into the water from land or by boat, place it strategically on land or by boat to help you out

Equipment that can be useful while snorkeling at night is a whistle. Attach this to your snorkel vest and it acts as a signal device to attract your friend's attention in case of emergency. Again, it is important that all your friends have this device at hand.

You need to consider security of equipment. Protect yourself with a protective suit, boots, and gloves, as it cools due to the cool night air. Another advantage for you when you wear protective equipment is that you can find things that can cause scratches and cuts at night. However, be careful not to damage fragile corals or other aquatic creatures.

Be sure to look at the beach and calculate your position while snorkeling. The relative ease of diving and the ability to literally drive for hours without lifting your head from the water can put you in situations that can be embarrassing (drifting in a group of wading birds) or quite dangerous as drifting offshore or losing the view!

After a week of snorkeling, you and your family will feel like experienced island sandpipers, with the pleasant vision of how little they have spent on their marine ecological adventure here in Cancun!
