POLICE are  investigating the armed robbery and murder at a secure Musgrave complex this morning.
According to Constable Khomo, of Durban Central SAPS, on Monday around 9am a Berea police patrol vehicle attended a crime scene at the Musgrave complex.
“The domestic worker (35) was approached by two unknown men who were dressed in blue overalls. They grabbed the woman and tied her hands and feet with cable ties  and covered her mouth with tape. The men proceeded to upstairs where the flat owner was sleeping. The maid said she heard the owner screaming but could not assist her due to being tied up, ” Khomo explained.

Khomo said the domestic worker tried to crawl and shout for help. A man working at the complex came to her rescue and untied her.
“She (the domestic worker) proceeded upstairs to check on her employer and used a pair of scissors to untie her, but her employer did not wake up. An ambulance was called and  paramedics declared the her employer dead on the scene.
“She was lying on the bed with no injuries only bleeding on the ear,” Khomo said. Earlier reports indicated the woman may have been stabbed.
The deceased woman was identified as Shakila Singh. Friends at the scene described Singh as a “fun loving and kind hearted” woman who loved dancing and listening to jazz music.
Khomo said the domestic worker’s cellphone as well as the deceased’s cellphones were taken. “No arrests have been made at this stage. Berea SAPS are investigating a case of House Robbery and Murder.
