Google Fiber recently announced it will provide free gigabit Internet access to people in public housing in Kansas City.
In 2015, Google partnered with ConnectHome, an US Department of Housing and White House initiative, to roll out free Internet access to families in public housing.
However, speeds were limited to 5Mbps down and 1Mbps up.
Google’s free gigabit Internet services are being rolled out first to West Bluff in Kansas City, Missouri, where it said all 100 homes were already wired with fibre.
The company said it plans to bring gigabit Internet to select affordable housing in all the cities where Google Fiber offers services.
