Radio and TV personality Mark Pilgrim was best known as the host of Big Brother South Africa and Africa as well his radio shows on 5FM, 94.7 Highveld Stereo and HOT102.7FM.


Born in Essex, England, Mark's family immigrated to South Africa when he was nine and he spent his primary and high school years in the small towns of Kriel and Sasolburg.The star started his B.Com degree at the University of the Witwatersrand.

Two years later he started working full-time and finished his degree in Industrial Psychology and Business Economics through UNISA.

The 53-year-old was born on 20 September 1969 and is a Virgo.

In another story by The South African Pilgrim proposed to his girlfriend Adrienne Watkins on New Year’s Eve 2022. He spent a nerve-wracking 64 days in the hospital getting treatment and proposed shortly after being discharged.

Pilgrim was reportedly diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1988. According National Cancer Institute testicular cancer forms in tissues of one or both testicles.

Sadly the famous radio Dj has reportedly passed away. Tributes poured in on social media on Sunday, paying tribute to legendary broadcaster Mark Pilgrim.



Pilgrim died on Sunday after a brave fight against stage four lung cancer. Condolences to the family and may his soul rest in peace.
