2020 was the year of the staycation due to the coronavirus pandemic and many people turned to motorhomes as a way to have a special holiday that provided a sense of freedom and flexibility. This is a type of holiday which many people will be enjoying in 2021 too and it can certainly bring many perks and there are all kinds of great destinations to consider.

Motorhome insurance specialist Comfort Insurance looked at a few of the most popular destinations for motorhome holidays in 2020 utilizing Google search trend data. The top destinations last year included places such as:

UK Destinations in 2021

These are all fantastic destinations for a staycation and it is likely that they will be popular places once again this year. The Guardian also looked at a few places that would be popular for motorhome holidays in the summer of 2021, which included places such as Three Cliffs Bay in Wales, Tintagel Duck Farm in Cornwall, Camp Elwood in Norfolk and The Secret Campsite in East Sussex.

European Options

Of course, many people will be desperate for an international holiday when they are able to and there are many superb destinations for a motorhome vacation. Obviously, you will need to keep an eye on the latest developments and restrictions both at home and overseas, but there are a few places which are worth considering once you are able to.

Munich, Germany

The beautiful city of Munich is rich with history and culture, but it is also somewhere that is ideal for a motorhome holiday due to the surrounding beauty and the surfing opportunities at Eisbach - some say it is the best surfing in all of Europe.

Pécs, Hungary

People tend to only visit Budapest in Hungary, which is a shame but it does mean that places like Pécs are much quieter and more peaceful. It is also an incredibly beautiful part of Europe blessed with its own microclimate and an excellent wine region.

Aalborg, Denmark

Aalborg is on the rise as a tourist destination, so now is the perfect time to visit Denmark’s fourth-largest city. It is becoming popular as it has something for everyone, including great architecture and culture, fun outdoor activities for kids and surrounding natural beauty.
