Summer Vacation

Summer is here in the northern hemisphere, and it’s the best time of the year to visit Europe in places like Barbados Villas if you like being able to go outdoors without feeling like the cold air is going to freeze your lungs.

Summer offers an almost infinite source of activities and events that you can hardly find in another time of the year. Christmas is cute, but it’s not exactly fun. Summer is blessed with long warm days and short nights. The perfect time of the year to make the most out of every minute of the day.

You’ve probably been planning your vacations all year long and you want it to be perfect. Follow these tips to make the most out of your trip.

Pack the essentials

If you’re going to be visiting several cities and countries make sure to pack only the essentials. The last thing that you want to be doing is wasting time unpacking and packing. Reducing the number of items that you carry also reduces the time wasted thinking about what you’re going to wear.

Create a draft of places that you want to visit

By a draft, we mean that it is best if you don't write anything on stone. Create a list of places you want to visit but have an alternative in case you feel under the weather or the weather is not the best for… let’s say… hiking.

Stay in the city centre

Wasting your time commuting when it comes to work is one thing, but wasting your precious time in transportation when travelling is a huge nuisance. Make sure to stay centrally located wherever you go. You can find great short term vacation rentals in London.

Stay within your budget but located at the heart of the city. This is the way to make the most out of every minute of your trip.

Don’t waste time on pictures and videos

We understand that in this digital world posting photos and videos of your trips is expected by followers and friends. However, keep in mind that a lot of time is wasted trying to get that perfect snap. Take pictures, but don’t make your whole trip about them.

Enjoy and sink into the culture and city that surrounds you. You’ll probably look at the photos once or twice, but your memories will last a lifetime.

Carry snacks and water

It’s surprising how expensive water can be when travelling, but chances are that you will be touring around famous landmarks and popular places, which means that prices will be higher than where the locals shop. Always remember to bring your bottle of water. This is also an excellent way of being eco-friendly travellers.

Snacks will also come in handy when your visiting ancient ruins, beautiful museums or strolling around the block. Hunger can spoil an experience and make you rush through things where you would like to stay longer.

Dress comfortably and fresh

Opt for a relaxed fashion trend that you can rock on the street but still be comfortable in. Pictures wearing fancy clothes might look cool, but everyone knows that it doesn’t feel cool. It feels like your feet are being tortured and your body is being squeezed into clothes that are meant for a party, not walking around.

Luckily for travellers, worldwide sports shoes are trending, which makes them the perfect pair to take every step. Also, make sure to wear breathable fabric, such as cotton, silk and linen to make your outfit classy and yet fresh.

Sunscreen

You might think that because certain European countries as associated with cold and cloudy weather you can skip on the screen. But when you spend all day outside during summer days, the sun will burn your skin.

Nothing like a good day at the gardens of Versailles to show you how fast and how bad the sun can burn. Remember to pack sunscreen, and apply it frequently.

Always Carry Antibacterial

All those landmarks and all that hoping and getting off transportation is going to leave your hands full of nasty bacteria that cause illness. Finding a restroom to wash your hands can many times be complicated.

Antibacterial will be a fast and easy way of keeping your hands clean when you’re ready to have a snack.

Also, make sure to also pack baby wipes. These can be incredibly useful to keep yourself looking fresh and clean during a long day of sightseeing.

Take a nap

There’s a reason why toddlers can be full of energy at 9pm. They take naps.

Travelling is fun, but it can also be tiring, if you want to make the most out of your vacation you’ll also want to be able to enjoy the night life, or at least have enough energy to eat dinner at a nice restaurant.

If you spend the whole day walking around, you will get tired and will want to be in bed by 9pm. Take a nap during the day, it’s best to do it when the sun is high on the sky and the day gets unbearably hot, usually around 2pm.

If you’re far away from your hotel or your apartment rental, just find a nice park and relax under the shadow of a tree.

Watch you diet

This is probably the last thing that you want to think of when you’re on vacation. But by watching your diet we don’t mean that you have to follow strict eating rules and ingredients.

Make sure that you’re eating plenty of fruits and veggies and that you’re not skipping any meals. Leading an unhealthy diet while can jeopardize your health. Even when you’re on vacation, you don’t want to have to deal with an upset stomach or annoying constipation.

Leading a healthy diet will also give you extra energy to keep walking and doing all the fun activities that you want.

Be cautious with your alcohol intake

Just as with food, you’ll want to be cautious with your alcohol intake. A good night of partying will be fun in the moment, but if you drink too much, you risk having a hangover the following day and spending the whole day inside trying to recover. Which means… a lost day of sightseeing and getting to know the place that you’re visiting.
