What is inflammation?

Although it is often maligned and perceived negatively, inflammation is a vital physiological process and a fundamental aspect of our body's innate immune response. However, excessive inflammation contributes to chronic diseases, such as cancer or rheumatoid arthritis.

Although anti-inflammatory drugs are often used to prevent this response and control pain, the body needs to go through this phase, so using these drugs could be considered controversial.

Chronic inflammation is defined as inflammation that persists for prolonged periods and may be caused by pathogens, viruses, and an overactive immune response. This type of inflammation can last from months to years and can occur when the immune system perceives healthy tissues as a threat and begins to attack them. This is known as an autoimmune disease. These conditions include asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease and sinusitis.

The CBD and inflammation

CBD oil could have a therapeutic role in both types of inflammation. It has also been shown that CBD significantly reduces the pain of chronic inflammation, possibly by activating glycogen receptors.

After applying a CBD oil treatment to mice, there was a reduction in the levels of macrophages in the intestines of rodents, pointing to future therapeutic strategies with CBD for treating intestinal inflammatory diseases.
