Akira is a science fiction top anime film since 1988 directed by Ktsuhiro Otomo. This film is about a teenage biker with mystic power and bike gang leader. 4. My Neighbor Totoro


This is a Japanese anime top film has been in the market since 1998. It is a fantasy film that talks about Satsuki, Mei and their father. In a setup of spirited woods, it shows how the family is able to deal with that in a postwar rural area in Japan. It was written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli. This film has been able to win several awards and has been able to be a cultural icon.

5. Garden of words


This is an animated drama movie that has been in existence since 2013. With the movies, many scenes in been shot in Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. It is about a boy 15years of age called Takao Akizuki who dreams to be a shoemaker and a 27 years old mysterious woman called Yukari Yukino.

6. Your name


Your name is a science fiction fantasy top anime film since 2016 written and directed by Makoto Shinkai and animated by Comix Wave films then distribution done by Toho. This film is about Taki who resides in the city while Mitsuha in the upcountry. They realise they switched bodies, but they have no idea who is in their body. They start communicating on notes and text messages. This goes on until they get used, but everything changes when an accident happens.

7. Princess Mononoke


Princess Mononoke is an epic historical fantasy movie has been in the market since 1997. Written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and animated by Studio Ghibli and produced by Toshio Suzuki. This film has a setup of 1336-1573 years of Japanese. It's all about a young warrior called Emishi Ashitaka. The warrior gets involved with a fight of control of resources between forest gods and humans. Mononoke means spirit or monsters. This film is full of dark and more violent scenes than any other movies produced by Ghibli films.

8. The girl who leapt through time


The girl who leapt through time is a science fiction romance movie has been in the market since 2006. Written by Satoko Okudera and directed by Mamoru and produced by Madhouse. The film is about a girl though times. The film has been able to gain its popularity since it has been able to win several awards. Kadokawa was able to release an English version of this movie in 2008 and 2016 respectively.

9. Wolf children


Wolf Children is a fantasy film that was released in 2012 by studio Chizu. It's about a girl know as Hana falls in love with a college guy when she gets pregnant for him and bears to kids who are half wolves. The dad to the two kids gets killed while hunting and Hana try to hide about her kids being half wolves by moving to the countryside.

10. Castle in the sky


Castle in the sky is an adventure movie that was released in 1986 by Ghibli studios. The film is about a world that people build flying cities and a catastrophe occurs that makes people start staying on the ground. Sheeta is abducted by the government agent and they are attacked by pirates and she tries to escape. Sheeta falls but is saved by magic and then he is found by a boy called Pazu. The two learn the girl was linked to flying cities and then they discover the flying castle before anyone does.
