MZANSI’S graduates year after year face the same problem after graduating – finding a job.
After several months, some even years, graduates find themselves sitting at home, unemployed and discouraged. However this is not the reality for a determined young woman, Malwandle.
Social media started buzzing when a picture of an engineering graduate standing at a robot with a board saying that she is a chemical engineering graduate and is looking for a job went viral.
Radio 702 talk show host Koketso Sachane this morning gave the young lady an opportunity to share her story.
Malwandle, an Engineering graduate, completed her BTech degree at Vaal University of Technology last year, and looking for a job has been tough for her.
She says since April last year she has been hunting for graduate and internship programmes. She says she has even called companies and has gone as far as going door to door to companies with no luck.
“After that I said these methods aren’t working, let me just write my board and wait in the busy robots… and I’ll get something”, she says in the interview.
Malwandle has been standing at the robots since last week and says the response has been very good.
Touched by her story, a caller from Sasol (Energy and chemical company) asked for her contact details so that they may set up an interview with her.
