A man was crushed to death by his wife's Range Rover after he failed to apply the handbrake, an inquest heard.
Businessman Wyn Lloyd, 55, from Carmarthenshire, borrowed the vehicle to go to the pub on New Year's Day but stopped on the way home and got out.
A post mortem examination found he was two times over the drink drive limit. Cause of death was pelvic injuries and heavy pressure due to the Range Rover.
The Llanelli inquest returned a conclusion of accidental death.
Mr Lloyd of Crugybar, near Carmarthen, had left the Angel pub in Llansawel, at about 01:00 GMT.
The inquest heard he got out "for an unknown reason" before the vehicle rolled into him on the road.
Returning his conclusion, coroner Mark Layton said: "We can only speculate why he got out."
