ICASA has published its first report on the state of the ICT sector in South Africa, which shows that it employs 335,000 people.
ICASA used data from secondary sources like Statistics South Africa and information aggregated from three questionnaires it sent out to compile the report.
According to the report, “Computer Services and Software” was the biggest employer, with 120,055 workers, followed by telecoms with 103,317 employees.
The chart below, which is based on data from StatsSA for the period ended 30 September 2015, shows the breakdown of employment in the ICT sector in South Africa.
