A new video has emerged showing a motorist being assaulted by members of the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD).
It is claimed that the motorist did not have licence plates on his car, which he said was because they had been stolen. He said that his new plates were in the vehicle, however an officer in the video can be heard saying that he believed the plates were fake.
The person who took the video said that as she rummaged through her bag to get her phone out, “these JMPD members had already punched, pushed and kicked this person to the floor and the tall metro cop was hitting and kicking him on the ground”.
“From the video you see how they physically assaulted this person after he refused to be arrested for not having number plates,” she said.
The JMPD said that no action can be taken against officers until the motorists comes forward to testify
