DA slams @LindiMazibuko comments on white males

Democratic Alliance national spokesperson Phumzile Van Damme on Monday said recent remarks by former DA parliamentary leader Lindiwe Mazibuko were incorrect and an insult to the party’s incumbent leader.
“Just because someone says something does not make it true,” said Van Damme.
Addressing media during the announcement of Patricia de Lille as the DA’s Cape Town mayoral candidate for this year’s local government elections, Van Damme refuted Mazibuko’s claims that the party was dominated by white males.
This in reference to a recent opinion piece Mazibuko wrote for BDLive, claiming: “The almost exclusive dominance of white males within the party’s ‘brains trust’ which was beginning to harm its external image as these highly disconnected men callously strut about social media like a law unto themselves”.
“The DA is not dominated by white males,” responded Van Damme. “It is the most diverse party.”
“Any insinuation of anything different is absolutely incorrect.”
She added that Mazibuko’s allegation was an insult to leader Mmusi Maimane.
“That is insinuating that because he is black, they are his white puppet masters,” said Van Damme
