AKA was gunned down on Friday, February 10th, outside a Morningside restaurant in Durban. The rapper was on his way to his birthday celebrations at Yugo Durban. He died a few days after turning 35.

His death has prompted fierce debate online as a CCTV footage of the moment he was shot dead suggests that someone sent a hitman to take him out.

Fellow rapper Riky Rick died on February 23rd 2022, after reportedly taking his own life. The reason he hanged himself has never been unearthed, but he had, on many occasions, revealed how he had battled depression since an early age.

He died a few months before turning 35.
AKA and Riky Rick started getting close after the fallout between the Sidlukotini hitmaker and Cassper Nyovest. However, AKA denied that was the reason, explaining that Riky Rick does not do beef drama.

In 2019, AKA roped in Riky on his song F.R.E.E. In 2020, both stars lent verses on Costa Titch’s hit Nkalakatha.

In February 2022, Riky took his own life. In February 2023, AKA was shot dead. Their chapters are now closed.
