Pearl Shongwe passes away


TV and Radio personality Pearl Shongwe has died. Pearl Shongwe has died,  The 35 year old Metro FM and Daily Thetha anchor was found dead by neighbours who alerted the police.
She was found lying dead alone in her home on her bed face down.

No injuries were found.

Several sources who preferred to remain anonymous confirmed the news.

The cause of her death is yet to be made public, but it is believed she was found dead in her home at Polofields North of Johannesburg.

SA FM also took to their official social media page to confirm the news.

"The SABC's Metro FM news presenter Pearl Shongwe has passed away. It's understood she died at her Polo Fields home north of Johannesburg". Read the tweet.

Her colleague said an official statement would be shared soon.

Details about her death are still sketchy at the moment.

Shongwe also presented sport on SABC's 404 News Channel and Morning Live on weekends alongside Simphiwe Ncongwane.

She was a much-loved face on TV; Shongwe was also a finalist in the Miss Soweto pageant in 2011.

Business Manager for Metro FM Kina Nhlengethwa said the family has confirmed her passing.

"It is with great sadness that the Shongwe family announces the untimely passing of our beloved daughter Ntombifuthi Pearl Shongwe. She passed away in her sleep". Statement from her family read, who also asked for privacy to mourn their daughter's death during this difficult time.

Her neighbours discovered the 35-year-old's body and then alerted the police.
