Pearl Thusi has called for the release of the Queen Sono season two script, in light of the continued questions on the conclusion of the story.

Pearl Thusi took to Twitter on Friday, 30 July 2021, to confirm that Africa’s first Netflix original drama series, Queen Sono, has not been renewed for a second season. Thusi played the lead and titular role. The show, which premiered in 2021 and was an international success, arguably paved the way for subsequent Netflix original series, such as Blood & Water.

However, the show which only has one season, was cancelled due to the pandemic. This is as the show was touted for a second season. However, considering that its cancellation happened during the first months of the global pandemic, the cancellation seemed like a decision taken due to the uncertainty of that time.

Due to this, the first season ended on a cliffhanger, as Queen Sono vowed to avenge the loss of her mother figure in the story. Fans have called for Netflix to reverse its decision. However, Thusi has confirmed that there is little chance of that happening, as she has asked for Netflix to at least release the script to provide closure for viewers on what the second season of the show would have entailed.
