The top sixteenth contestants on 2018 Idols SA‘ season 14 have been revealed!
The competition was narrowed down to the top 32 and tonight, the judges – Randall Abrahams, Somizi Mhlongo, and Unathi Msengana. – have cut seventeen singers and sent them home.
The Idols SA live shows are set to begin next week (26 August 2018) and at that point, South Africa will have all the say in who stays and who goes home every week.

Independent artist and songwriter Niyaaz may have had his fair share of challenges in the music industry but that didn’t slow him down. Which is likely why the Western Capetonian had no trouble landing his spot in the Top 16. And now the 22 year old can’t wait to show off a few more tricks he has stored up his sleeves. Hailing for little known small town Postmasburg, Thatho travelled a remarkable 14hours to his Cape Town auditions. The arduous trek paid off though as the former barber found himself sailing through the duets and solos to firmly cement his place in the Top 16. It comes as no surprise that Dalene’s favourite singer is former Idols contestant and Top 16 alumni, Shekhinah. The BCom student is also no stranger to bright lights as she previously worked as a part-time performer around Johannesburg. Incredibly shy yet just as phenomenally talented, Thando had to dig deep to come out of her shell and reveal what lay within to the judges. What was nestled inside the timid media practices scholar was a voice that gave the judges little doubt that she was worthy of a Top 16 spot and singing for South Africa’s votes. She’s just as unique as her nom de plume would suggest. Arts and performance have always been a part of Wattahmelon’s life and so taking on Idols was a near natural transition for the eclectic starlet. Even though Randall was ready to grant her a straight pass to Theatre Week, 19 year old Xae proved she needed no favours and had the unquestionable talent.
