THE SOUTH AFRICAN music industry has lost another musician.
News of Refiloe Motho’s death has been met with shock by music fans.
Refiloe, from Chiawelo, Soweto was one of five members of the Coca-Cola Popstars band Adilah.
The other four were Karabo Motlhabi, Thembisile Ntaka, Letang Tlome and Itumeleng Kgosana.
Adilah shot to fame when they released their hit Ses’Fikile which took the industry by storm.
Just like the previous winners 101, the group later broke up.
Former band member Thembisile Ntaka said Refiloe’s passing will bring them back together.
“We have lost a great friend and someone who really connected with everyone. She had the biggest heart and such patience.”
Thembisilesaid she was really going to miss Refiloe since they were once close friends.
“I know I’ve not seen her for some time and that is really sad for me.
I once stayed with her and we got to know each other a bit more during that time.
“I will always cherish the time we shared together.”
Thembisile wrote on her Twitter account: “RIP Refiloe Motha till we meet again mngani wami. Ngohlala ngikuthanda njalo futhi angisoze ngakukhohlwa.”
Letang said Refiloe was an incredible person whose presence filled a room.
“Most people don’t know how creative she was. You could hear it in the music she wrote. We have really lost a wonderful person.”
Refiloe is survived by one child.
Her funeral service will take place tomorrow from 9am to 10.30am at the African Gospel Church in Mooki Street, next to Orlando Stadium in Orlando East, Soweto.
