KWAITO artist L’vovo Derrango was reportedly expected in court yesterday for swearing at Metro cops on Saturday.
But journalists who had received confirmation of the case from the police got a shock when he failed to turn up and his name didn’t appear on the roll!
The Resista hitmaker – whose real name is Thokozani Ndlovu – was arrested and charged with crimen injuria after allegedly getting into a fight with cops in Durban. The incident apparently happened at a club in Florida Road when the police shut it down.
KZN police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Shooz Magudulela confirmed to Daily Sun that L’vovo was arrested on Saturday night. He also confirmed he was expected to appear in the Durban Magistrates Court yesterday.

But although police had confirmed the court appearance, journalists found out that L’vovo’s name didn’t appear on the list of people set to make their first appearances.
Describing how L’vovo got arrested, a witness told Daily Sun: “He shouted at the cops and swore at them. He also resisted arrest.
“People were coming out of restaurants and bars to watch.”
Another witness said L’vovo was taken to Berea Police Station after finally giving in to the cops. When the SunTeam contacted L’vovo, he said there was no case against him.
“I don’t even have a case number and I wasn’t told I had to appear in court,” L’vovo said.
When he was told about the police confirmation, he said: “My sister, I don’t know what you are talking about.”
KZN NPA spokeswoman Natasha Kara said she couldn’t check whether L’vovo was out on free bail because he wasn’t in the
police cells.
“He will have to appear in court before I can check,” she said.
