US pop star Prince, the 57-year-old whose hits included Purple Rain and Kiss, was found unresponsive on Thursday at his Minnesota home and was later declared dead, his publicist confirmed on Thursday.
According to TMZ, police confirmed a response to a medical call on Thursday morning. The crime lab and medical examiner are on the scene, but the identity of the deceased is unknown.
The Carver County Sheriff's department in Chanhassen, the area of Minnesota where Paisley Park is based, told the US entertainment website earlier on Thursday that there had been a fatality and they were notifying next of kin.

Prince spent a short period of time in hospital in Illinois over the weekend after his private jet made an emergency landing in the early hours of Friday morning.
His representatives told TMZ that the 57-year-old had been suffering from a "bad bout of flu". The musician then returned to Paisley Park on Saturday.
Journalists at Paisley Park have reported police vehicles entering the estate.
