Four people were injured this afternoon, two seriously after a vehicle rear-ended another on the M13 in Hillcrest, KwaZulu Natal.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on scene and found both vehicles in the centre isle between the two roads. One of the vehicles lay on its side in a ditch.
On assessment, paramedics found two occupants lying inside the vehicle on its side, both in a serious condition.
Rescue services had to use the jaws-of-life to free one of the patients from the vehicle.
Once freed, paramedics treated both patients and provided them with advanced life support interventions.
Two patients in the second vehicle were assessed and found to have sustained only minor injuries.
Once treated, all four patients were transported to various hospitals for further treatment.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
