DURBAN artists became victims of crime at the ANC’s 104th birthday celebrations in Rustenburg on Friday.
Best buddies “DJ Bongz”, real name Bongani Dlamini, and L’vovo Derrango were allegedly scammed while trying to withdraw cash in Tlhabane, Rustenburg.
DJ Bongz and L’vovo were billed to perform their hit songs Ofana Nawe and Next Better Man during celebrations.
Sources said the two and their entourage went to an FNB ATM to withdraw cash, but left the ATM
empty-handed, but with someone else’s card instead.
A source said: “I don’t know what happened because many people wanted to take pictures with them while they were at the ATM, maybe one of the fans was a scammer.”
Another source said: “L’vovo was overheard shouting ‘amasalamuzi, rubbish!’”
L’vovo said: “Whatever happened, it’s all in the past now. It’s a calling for me to be here. I came here to celebrate my freedom as a black man.”
DJ Bongz said: “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Last week, I came up tops with my song on the 2016 countdown and no one mentioned it.
