EFF president Julius Malema has accused Police Minister Bheki Cele of being a criminal who is also on the payroll of criminals.

In his speech at the state of the nation address the debate on Tuesday, Malema said the police leadership had failed to deal with crime in the country because it was focusing on the wrong things.

Malema called for the removal of Cele as a police minister after accusing him of failing the country with crime rates increasing daily.

He said instead of police going after criminals, they are targeting innocent people and his deputy, Floyd Shivambu.

“The leadership of the police actually planned the assassination of our deputy president, a matter that we brought to the attention of the president that the minister was involved in the plot of killing the deputy president of the EFF,” he said.

Malema revealed that the police in Mpumalanga deployed dirty tactics to implicate Shivambu in the murder of former EFF secretary-general Godrich Gardee’s daughter Hillary Gardee.
