Her son, daughter-in-law and four grandchildren all perished in the horrific car accident.

The Ministry of Transport confirmed in a statement on Monday afternoon,

Deputy Minister of Transport, Ms Sindisiwe Chikunga, MP, has learnt with shock and devastation the passing of her son, daughter-in-law and four grandchildren in a car accident last night on Sunday, 17th July 2022.

The Deputy Minister’s family was travelling on the N11 between Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal, where it is believed they were involved in a car accident between a sedan and a bakkie.

The Deputy Minister is travelling to KwaZulu Natal to identify the remains and establish the full facts. Further details about the accident will be released once complete information is found from local authorities.

The family pleads for space and privacy until full facts are established before further communication with the public.
