A Kenyan High Court judge, Teresia Matheka, is making headlines for declaring that being a housewife is a full-time job that should earn some form of compensation.
It's no doubt a welcome validation to many a woman who knows what it takes to keep a household running.
According to the Pulse the judge who was presiding over a matrimonial property dispute said:” that it is unfair for courts to rule that housewives do not contribute anything to the financial progress of the family”.
The complainant is apparently a divorced woman who was looking to have their family home sold and the money shared equally between herself and her ex-husband.
The Judge stated that housewives should not say they don't work since they provide services in the home that would otherwise have to be outsourced and paid for.
