Ntsiki Mazwai

Ntsiki Mazwai has used her timeline to cast doubt on the innocence of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes in the tragic passing of his fiancée, Anele “Nelli” Tembe.

Ntsiki Mazwai took to Twitter on Sunday, 18 July 2021, to cast doubt on the innocence of rapper, Kiernan “AKA” Forbes. This in reference to the tragic passing of his fiancée, Anele “Nelli” Tembe. In April 2021, news of Nelli allegedly jumping off a balcony at a hotel in Cape Town captured headlines. However, it was the events leading up to her passing which have arguably tainted AKA’s image.

Reports and the current narrative is that Nelli took her own life. However, following her passing, the alleged toxicity of their relationship was highlighted. This is as substance abuse, mental health issues and alleged emotional and physical abuse allegations were levelled against AKA. He has denied all the claims and has, instead, labelled their relationship as “passionate.”

Mazwai’s series of tweets attempting to cast doubt on AKA’s innocence in Nelli’s passing come as reports believe that the South African Police Service (SAPS) has reopened an investigation into Nelli’s passing. In one of her tweets, Mazwai wrote, “I was hurt when AKA’s family walked behind the coffin in front of her siblings… It wasn’t [okay]. If my sibling’s partner’s extended families I didn’t even know walked in front of me following my siblings’ coffin… Ngingahlanya (I would be livid).”

Moreover, she went on to suggest that there was preferential treatment in the manner in which AKA was treated compared to Kelly Khumalo. When Twitter users attempted to correct Ntsiki, claiming that the circumstances were different, Mazwai was blatant in casting a shadow of doubt over AKA’s innocence. Mazwai stated that the public only knows the sequence of events of Nelli’s passing based on AKA’s word.

AKA, on the other hand, last commemorated Nelli in a touching post on Father’s Day. He wrote, in part, “This is the last picture I took of you, and this is how I choose to remember you. I pray for your family every single day, as I do for mine. We miss you so much Anele. So so much. Everything reminds me of you.”
