Ntsiki Mazwai took to Twitter on Monday, 12 July 2021, to circulate her blog post tackling the contentious matter of former president, Jacob Zuma’s arrest. The arrest has prompted political unrest across the country, as some citizens are protesting to have Zuma freed from his prison sentence. Moreover, her circulating the blogpost marked her return to social media.

Mazwai reportedly took a social media hiatus following the passing of her grandmother. The star did not share on the matter, possibly in fear of the backlash she might receive. This is as Mazwai has been known to not hold back towards other media and Twitter personalities. Even so, the matter was shared by her sister, Thandiswa Mazwai, who too went on a social media hiatus during the mourning period.

Explaining her reasoning for advocating for the release of the former president, Mazwai wrote, “Release the old man and let him speak to his people to calm the f*#@ down …. KWANELE (enough now). No more violence. Siyanicela (We plead with you).”
