ANN7 is currently employees over 282 South Africans, as MultiChoice has announced that it will not be renewing ANN7’s contract when it expires in August.

ANN7 (African News Network 7) is a 24-hour news channel in South Africa, earlier owned by the Gupta family and more recently sold to Mzwanele Manyi. The channel broadcasts on Multichoice's DStv satellite television service. The channel's launch in August 2013 was initially met with public mockery when numerous technical issues and mistakes made by un-trained presenters went viral online

During a briefing on Wednesday, CEO Calvo Mawela said they made mistakes in the past and added there was no corruption.

“Mistakes were made, with regards to lobbying process and failure to do due diligence, but there was no evidence of corruption or illegal activity.”
