Zimbabwean first lady Grace Mugabe is set to appear in court today.

Mugabe is accused of assaulting a woman on Sunday night at a Sandton hotel.

Pictures circulating on social media show the 20-year-old woman sustained injuries to her head.

It's unclear what sparked the incident, but it's being reported Mugabe found the woman in a hotel room with her son.

A source in the police has told EWN that the Zimbabwean first lady had been arrested this morning.

It's understood that she will appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court this afternoon, reports EWN's Clement Manyathela.

Mugabe is facing charges of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
