Muvhango’s bootylicious actress Phindile Gwala has turned her back on the soap after nearly five years on the small screen.

Gwala, who played bubbly character, Nonny on the show, said she resigned last week from the popular SABC2 soapie. “I resigned because I have been there for some time and I want to grow my brand beyond Muvhango”

She assured us that her resigning does not mean she was unhappy. She also said that although her car wash business was doing well, it was also not the reason she resigned.

Gwala made her debut on the screen in 2013. She said this would not be the end to her acting career but was hesitant to talk about her upcoming gigs. “Talking about my upcoming projects before the they are confirmed would be immature, you will know once everything is confirmed”, Gwala said.

The soapie’s publicist, Amanda Ngudle confirmed that the viewership magnet had resigned. “Yes we can confirm that we received a resignation letter from Phindile Gwala, who played the character of Nonny, the former receptionist who later became an HR official. It has been an amazing three seasons and I’m sure she can attest to growing her craft and brand with us. We wish her all the best with her business and future endeavors,” she said.
