He plays the hacking specialist Zach on SABC1 soapie Generations: The Legacy and he’s slowly winning the hearts of the show’s viewers with his smile, charm and great looks. We sat down for a quick chat with Mxolisi Masango to get to know the man behind the character.
Where are you from?
A small town in Mpumalanga called Leandra.
What were you doing before acting?
I was a full-time student doing my BA in media before doing TV.
How has being on Generations changed your life?
Generations is really big so when you join a show of this magnitude it’s easy to get lost in the hype of it. But what’s important is I love what I do and constantly improving my craft takes first priority.
You’ve been a news anchor for a while, so how do you transition from reality to acting?
Sometimes it feels like I have to turn a switch on and off to get into acting mode and then into journalist mode. At the end of the day I really enjoy what I do so it’s not that much of an issue to transition.
Five things you can’t live without?
God, my family, my cellphone, a good book and gym.
Three things we’d be surprised to learn about you?
I’m quite spiritual, I’m a fitness fanatic and I thoroughly enjoy adventure sports!

When you’re not acting or presenting, what do you do?
I’m probably hanging out with a good read.
