Most dangerous roads to look out for this Easter Holiday


As South Africans travel across the country to go home and on holiday during Easter, the South African Police and Arrive Alive, have come up with some tips to travel safely this long weekend.

Some of the most dangerous roads that have been identified in South Africa include:
  1. The N12 from Springs to Witbank
  2. The N2 from Durban to Tongaat
  3. The N4 from Middleburg to Belfast
  4. The N1 from Polokwane to Makhado
  5. The N1 from Makhado to Polokwane
  6. The N2 from Umtata to Kokstad
  7. The N2 route from Umtata to Kokstad
  8. The N2 from East London to Umtata

Here are tips on how to keep safe:

  1. Ensure that your vehicle is in a good condition when you plan to go on a journey.
  2. Beware of carjackers who may stage a minor accident so they can approach your car.
  3. Do not give strangers a lift.
  4. Valuable items like a laptop and camera should not be left in a vehicle, even if the vehicle is locked.
  5. Never leave children or pets unattended in a lock or parked vehicle, even if it is in the shade.


Do not react to provocation or make obscene hand gestures.


Avoid eye contact with an aggressive driver.
