THE Metro FM Awards weekend is in full swing as festivities kick off today.

Durban will come to a standstill as the biggest names in the entertainment industry flock to the town.

The awards ceremony, which was organised in partnership with the City of Durban and the KwaZulu-Natal government, will take place at Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre tomorrow night.

The black carpet will be rolled out as the best musicians in the country are rewarded for their hard work.

Television and radio presenter Pearl Modiadie will host the awards ceremony alongside Amon Mokoena.

Amon and Pearl host Metro FM’s lunch-time show, The Great Escape, weekdays from 12-3pm and there is no doubt that their chemistry and synergy on the airwaves will be translated on stage tomorrow evening.

But before the main event, a pre-party will be hosted tonight to get the audience in the mood.

The Eyadini Experience will take place at Eyadini Lounge in Umlazi, south of Durban.

SABC 1 music show Live Amp will broadcast live from the venue.

The line-up for the event includes MoFlava, Lerato Kganyago, Sphectacula and Naves, Jawz, Lulo Cafe, Professor and Merlon.
Doors open at 12pm and R100 gets you in.

On Sunday, the Metro FM Music Awards Wrap Up party closes off the weekend at Max’s Lifestyle in Umlazi.
Amon Mokoena, Sentle, Nothemba Madumo, Glen Lewis, Babes Wodumo, Amanda Black, Big Nuz, Kwesta and Professor will perform at the event.

Tickets will be sold at the gate and prices ranges from R150 to R950.
