South Africa’s beloved uKhozi fm DJ, Ngizwe Mchunu has finally tied the knot despite the controversy that has surrounded his relationship with him and his third wife, Florida Mthimkhulu
The wedding took place at the bride’s home in KwaMashu and was well attended by both family members, but DRUM did not see first wife, Sphelele Nxumalo, or second wife, Lindy Khuzwayo, at the ceremony.
Instead, when DRUM phoned the two ladies, Lindy said she knew nothing about the wedding and someone who answered the phone on behalf of Sphelele said “Sphelele was not informed about this.”
Surprisingly, the unknown woman admitted that Sphelele and the DJ were together the day before but still the news was new to her.
Last year DRUM reported that Ngizwe’s other wives had joined forces and taken the couple to the Durban High Court to nullify their civil marriage, but it’s clear that the newlywed couple would not let anything stand in their way.
Instead, Florida says the challenges they have faced regarding their relationship were caused by her decision to reject her calling as a sangoma. But, she changed her mind for the sake of peace in her life.
“My marriage was attacked and my husband and I were receiving negative publicity,” she explained. “In October I decided to go to Makhosi Cebekhulu in Empangeni who trained me to become a sangoma.”
Will keeping the wedding a secret from his wives cause backlash for the DJ?
“My wives know I’m married to Florida. I don’t need to tell them anything,” he said. “What’s important is that when I summon them they respect me.”
