THE domestic worker’s biggest wish was to buy her boyfriend a car, but she couldn’t afford it.
So when her employer went overseas and left over R500 000 in his house, she allegedly saw her opportunity to make her dream come true.
The woman (33) from Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, was arrested after allegedly stealing from her employer and spending R400 000 in a week!
The first thing she reportedly did was buy a VW Polo for her man. But their life of luxury was short lived as the car and furniture she bought were soon seized by the cops.
They were both were arrested and charged with theft.
Kempton Park police spokesman Captain Jethro Mtshali said the suspect was allegedly on the run for seven days after stealing R545 000.
The manhunt for her started after her employer returned home from a trip overseas and realised the money was gone.
Mtshali said Detective Frans Rafapa travelled to Nelspruit in Mpumalanga last week and bust the suspect after being tipped off she was hiding there.
He said when the employer arrived home and found both the money and his domestic worker gone, he went to the cops.
“He tried to get hold of her on the phone with no success. He then opened a case.”
The suspect appeared in the Kempton Magistrates Court and will soon be back for a bail application.
