Mpumelelo Bhulose known for his role Gxabhashe on SABC 1’s telenovela Uzalo directs DJ Happygal’s new music video.
Kwazulu-Natal DJ Happygal released her single Yaphel’imali featuring Professor and DJ Micks only a week ago and the response has been outstanding.
“The song has not even been play-listed on radio yet and when people demanded the video, I could not think of anyone better to direct it than Mpumelelo Bhulose,” said Happygal.
“I have seen his work and I respect and trust his creativity so much and he came through with an amazing concept,” she said.
Shot at Durban’s popular youth handout spot Max’s Lifestyle in Umlazi township, the video is about a guy who thinks he can score with girls by buying them drinks at the club, until he gets taught a lesson when he is left alone with no money to pay for the bill.
Mpumelelo Bhulose said directing is not something he had done extensively but given the opportunity, he could not say no, and he would do it again.
”I am a creative, I have worked behind the scenes before and shooting Happygal’s video was great fun. A lot of the time music video directors don’t translate what the song is saying into the video and we tried our best to convey the message of the song in the video,” Bhulose said.
