Hip-hop star AKA is part of an ANC contingent that has been invited to accompany ANC stalwart Winnie Mandela to the voting station on Wednesday.

Thousands of South Africans have been queuing at voting stations across the country since Wednesday morning to make their mark in one of the country's highly-contested local government elections.

In the lead up to much-anticipated elections numerous high-profile personalities including rapper AKA have rallied behind the ruling party by participating in their election campaigns.

AKA has been at the forefront of mobilizing his young fans to participate in the voting process‚ and has been fiercely vocal about why the ruling party has his vote.

Taking to social media on Wednesday‚ AKA shared pictures of himself together with Mayor Parks Tau at Mandela's house to accompany her to cast her vote.
