The ANC's Gwede Mantashe has conceded that the party may become the opposition in areas where it doesn't have the majority.
Secretary General Gwede Mantashe said, "Modimolle, Rustenburg. Those are the municipalities we are said to be leading but not controlling. That means we will talk to the people. "
"You can have a coalition. You can bring the opposition parties to have a non-workable coalition. So that they fail dismally. You have options there."
Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane, in light of an imminent win in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan, however said they would not consider a coalition with the ANC.
