A minibus taxi split apart in a horror crash on the N2 in Durban that left two dead and one injured, paramedics reported on Sunday.
Describing the scene as "carnage", Rescue Care Paramedics operations director, Garrith Jamieson, said after a bakkie and minibus collided, "the minibus came to rest on top of the bakkie".
The incident occurred on the N2 northbound near the NPC Cement Factory in Durban on Saturday night.
Jamieson said a person had been trapped in the one vehicle but "he had sustained multiple injuries and was declared deceased on the scene".
Another person was found dead on the scene, while a third sustained moderate injuries and was stabilised before being transported to a hospital.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
