At least 35 people were injured when three minibus taxis travelling on the M4 south in Durban collided on Friday night, paramedics said.
Rescue Care spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said the three taxis had collided in the fast lane of the M4 south at around 18:30.
Two people were trapped in one of the taxis and the fire department was called to assist. Advanced life support was used on the scene to stabilise the injured.
The occupants were then transported to nearby hospitals in Durban for further treatment.
It was not immediately clear what the cause of the accident was.
