A BOY (3) died a terrible death yesterday when he was ripped apart by his family’s pit bull terrier.
The shocking attack took place at his home in Umlazi, south of Durban at about 11am.
Paramedics said they found the child lying on the kitchen floor of his home when they responded to a dog bite incident in the kasi.
Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said reports from the scene indicate the boy was attacked by the family’s pit bull.
“Paramedics arrived at the home and found the boy lying on the kitchen floor with extensive injuries from the violent attack. It appears he was attacked in the garden and was then moved to the house by family members.
“Tragically, it was found he had died before we arrived as he had sustained extensive injuries over his entire body.”
Lieutenant Nqobile Gwala said: “A three-year-old child was allegedly mauled to death by a family dog at Zigqaje Road in M section.
“Umlazi police are investigating the incident.”
