In an ongoing effort to unite youthful South Africans through the power of music, this Youth Month 5FM announces the station’s first 18 years and under youth music festival. On 18 June, in honor of Youth Month, the station will host the first annual Live Loud Youth Fest specifically aimed at a younger audience. The event, at Innisfree Park in Sandton, Johannesburg, from 13:00 – 21:00, is explicitly aimed at teenagers aged 13 – 18; no over-18s are allowed.

5FM Station Manager Justine Cullinan says, “Young people often miss out on big festivals and concerts because of alcohol restrictions. As a responsible, youthful brand, we fully support that, but we feel it’s time for young people to enjoy the big 5FM Live Loud stage, featuring their favorite bands and DJs, in a safe, alcohol-free environment.”
The festival will showcase the hottest local music acts, featured on 5FM’s Top 40 chart and regular playlist, and several 5FM DJs, promising an unforgettable experience. The artist line-up includes Timo ODV, Chunda Munki, 5FM Ultimix DJs Pascal & Pearce and Ryan the DJ, and 5FM DJs Euphonik, Roger Goode, Milkshake, Ms. Cosmo, Nicole da Silva, Vic Naidoo, and Stephanie B.
5FM is geared toward creating a safe and enjoyable event and promises strict security measures for underage listeners. Parents will be able to rest assured of their safety as the station will be taking measures to avoid underage drinking and drug abuse. Food stalls with non-alcoholic beverages, a bag locker facility, secure parking, and a drop-offa will be available on the day. Event promoter Revel Ravenhill from NuWave says that security and entertainment are the top two priorities at the event. “Security will be tight in all areas at the event and managed by reputable safety and security Company, Core Security. Core Security will take every precaution within and outside the event grounds to facilitate and ensure a safe and enjoyable event for all attending.”
Tickets are on sale on Computicket for R195.
