Female rapper Nadia Nakai found herself in the midst of a social media storm on Monday evening when an event she is set to perform at seemed to promised fans a meet and greet opportunity with the rapper for a fee of R1200.
Nakai is set to perform at the Uncensored 2 music event‚ to be held in East London at the end of the month‚ but fans were up in arms when it was revealed that a VIP package to meet‚ have lunch and hang out with the artist was priced at R1‚200 a ticket.
Angry Twitter users took aim at Nakai over the price of the tickets.
Talking to Times Media Entertainment on Tuesday‚ Nadia’s management explained that the Twitter fury‚ which lasted longer than six hours and saw her top the local trends list‚ was merely a misunderstanding.
“Nadia is performing at the event at the end of the month but the event organisers set a VIP package which included a meet and greet‚ and lunch with the artists. They never mentioned Nadia’s name but she was the one who people naturally reacted to‚” Nadia’s manager Bash said.
“As her management we agreed to the event but not to the meet and greet‚ and we asked them to remove the package which they have since done”.
Although Nadia is yet to comment on the matter‚ Bash confirmed that she was upset over the package and the initial backlash she received on social media.
