UK @bigrichinnes Richard Innes choose to seek attention by undermining Thabo Rakhale Skills

English media blasts Orlando Pirates player

Richard Innes have chosen a wrong platform to seek attention. We (South Africans) wont leave this issue to rest untill you get it through your thick skull that South African players have got their own style of play of which is way much better than that kicking of the ball to the corner flag.

Here in SA, we knock the ball around and display our God given talents to entertain the fans/supporters.

Orlando Pirates trickster Thabo Rakhale’s skills show against Kaizer Chiefs on the weekend was labelled as the “most outrageously pointless showboating in football history” by English media.

The 25-year-old winger showed off some trickery during his side’s 2-0 win over their Soweto rivals in the Nedbank Cup last 32 round on Saturday.

In the dying minutes of the game and with his side already well in the lead, ‘Jomo’ found some space out on the right-hand side of the field and proceeded to toy with Amakhosi defender Morgan Gould
A clip of the Pirates midfielder’s piece of skill was posted by English publication the Daily Mirror, which described it as a “wonderfully pointless display of nonsense”, on Tuesday, in an article with the headine: “South African player produces the most disgustingly outrageous showboat in football history.”

“The showboat is a very particular football skill,” the article read.

“A proper showboat doesn’t just see a player perform a brilliant trick. It can only be a real showboat if said brilliant trick has no impact on the game.

“With his side two goals up and the match in injury time, Pirates midfielder Thabo Rakhale thought he’d do some showing off.”

This is the second time the winger’s skills have made headlines overseas, and it will be interesting to see if the English press keep an eye on him for any more outrageous tricks.

DISCLAIMER: The Mirror has since slightly changed the original wording and headline of their story, which were used in the quotes above.
