The popular legendary actor was arrested on Tuesday and appeared at the Alexandra Magistrate’s court on Wednesday on charges of assaulting his girlfriend and his sister Queen Sephuma.
Sephuma, who played the role of Miles Vilakazi on the soapie, told Sunday World that he and his sister had an ‘altercation’ over their family staying in Alexandra. ‘Yes, I was arrested and appeared in court on Wednesday. I had an altercation with my sister and it ended up being physical. It was a mistake and I apologised to my sister. The family is coming to solve the matter and that’s all I can say for now.’
The actor, who spent the night in Alexandra police cells, was apprehended after his sister took the matter to the cop shop. According to a police statement seen by Sunday World, Sephuma was in his bedroom with his girlfriend when his sister heard screams coming from the room. ‘She went to the room to find out what was happening and she found him chocking the girlfriend. When she tried to remove him, he turned and chocked her too’, reads the statement.
Queen said : ‘I am a spiritual person. I was in a light trance lying on the floor when Peter arrived and tried to help me. When he grabbed and lifted me I screamed for help as I thought he was assaulting me. I then went to the police station and  opened a case against him.’ Queen said she later tried to withdraw the case against him but police refused to let her do so.
‘They told me that I can’t withdraw the charges against him and can only do so on April 7 which is his next court appearance day.’
The matter will be back in court in April for mediation.
