South Africa: A 26-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly raped a 22-year-old woman in the bushes and then fell asleep near Masakhaneng section of Ga-Kgapane Township, outside Tzaneen, police said on Monday.
The suspect allegedly dragged the victim into the nearby bushes and raped her. He then fell asleep.
“The victim managed to escape and called the police and the suspect was immediately arrested while still sleeping,” said police spokesman Moatshe Ngoape.
The alleged rapist will appear before the Bolobedu Magistrate Court on Tuesday on a charge of rape.
Meanwhile, the Police in Modjadjiskloof outside Tzaneen have launched a manhunt for suspects who are involved in the brutal killing of a 35-year-old woman at Montina Farm in Driehoek near Modjadjieskloof.
The woman’s half naked body which had multiple stab wounds was found lying next to the road, police said.
The motive of the killing was still unknown.
Police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can lead to the arrest of suspects to contact the nearest police station or the Saps crime stop number 0860010111 or the crime line – 32211 for twenty-four hours.
