Former Generations actor, Thabiso Mokhethi, says his image is still intact despite reports alleging that he was a wife beater.
Thabiso grabbed headlines late last year when it was reported that his wife, Gaaratwe, had obtained a protection order against him to prevent him from allegedly emotionally and physically abusing her.
But it seems Thabiso has repented and found redemption in the arms of TV show, Gospel Gold.
Thabiso was recently unveiled as the new presenter on the popular gospel show, and talking to Sowetan this week, he says his past has not tarnished his image.
“The difference is when you have made a mistake, you own up and learn from it,” he says.
Gospel Gold have come out in defence of the appointment, saying that the incident only affected Thabiso personally and that his talent remains.
“We do look at a presenter’s background, especially for Gospel Gold, but we found what happened to him only affects him personally. Most importantly, we focused on the talent he has when presenting the show,” SABC spokesperson Zandile Nkonyeni told the paper.
